About me

I am Aaron Drew, the founder of A-NET. I build, fix and maintain practical technical systems, mostly around web services, servers, automation, databases, integrations and self-hosted infrastructure.

My work sits between development, infrastructure and support. I am interested in the parts of technology that make things work reliably behind the scenes: APIs, logs, deployment, networking, storage, remote access, monitoring and small internal tools.

I prefer straightforward systems that are easy to understand, easy to maintain and built around what they actually need to do.

A-NET is where I put that work into practice, through hosted services, websites, APIs, Discord applications, Roblox integrations, technical support and bespoke software projects.

My experience covers Windows and Linux servers, virtualisation, networking, databases, web services, scripting, diagnostics and self-hosted infrastructure.

Technologies I use across A-NET projects include Node.js, JavaScript, Python, Lua, PowerShell, Bash, SQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, IIS, Docker, Proxmox and various networking and infrastructure platforms.

Approach

I usually start by working out what the system actually needs to do, who will use it and what will make it maintainable later. I would rather keep something simple and dependable than add complexity that does not help the end result.
